Extending the warranty on the EGR valve? Not a particularly expensive component.

I got this today also, very interesting. I wonder what is really included in this extended warranty for EGR valve. Seems like it should include more.

Throttle valve and egr are two different things. The throttle valve shuts off air to the engine, I think in the event of a diesel runaway.

I have the throttle value changed the other day under CPO. Carbon buildup was the cause apparently.

Heres hoping for an extension on the entire system. My tank is leaking again!

Seems that only owners of 2010 MY are getting the letter; anyone with 2009 or 2011 MY get the letter yet? If only 2010, does anyone else find this odd? I have seen no evidence that the EGR/Emission systems are different year over year.

2010 model here also, 9/2009 build date. Got the letter. What is this about though? Of all the parts that we have reports of consistent failure, this isn't one of them...

Got mine on Friday...I also have a 2010. Hopefully this is just the beginning of the acknowledgement of a flawed design.

I called the dealer. They had not heard about it. They also checked some sort of BMW database while I was on the phone and it had not been posted. According to the SA this is not unheard of.

does the collective brain trust think this is their way of covering CBU up to 10 yrs, 120k without explicitly saying CBU cleaning is covered? I cant figure any other explanation since the EGR valve itself is not a common issue

I had two of them replaced already. They are not covered under the emission control warranty.

Before, during, or after a CBU treatment or totally unrelated?

If you had to ask me, it was related to CBU. The dealer replaced a lot of stuff on my car,but never said anything about CBU.
1000 miles later it was diagnosed with CBU.

That makes sense. I think a few people reported EGR codes when their CBU was starting to surface.

Can we make a sticky of typical codes that point to EGR/CBU?
