Question about insurance & repairs
Hi guys,
I'm posting here since "General BMW" forum since somewhat less active. I have 428xi GC. Few weeks back I had a fender-bender where another driver at low speed bumped into me. Long story short, I got an estimate from insurance company body shop & went to a BMW certified one here in Seattle. They took off bumper & found more damage and decided that it warrants replacing bumper. Insurance co appraiser agreed. Anyway, new bumper will be here no sooner than next week (it's on the east coast). Body shop doesnt think that insurance will pay for the work required to assemble the bumper so I could drive my own car & not a rental one (ford focus ftw). I'm going to call insurance tomorrow (USAA) but I wonder if there are any arguments I can use to persuade them to pay for 2 hours of work required to put it all back. After all, that would save them expense of rental car I'm driving now. Any thoughts? I never had to deal with insurance so any advice is appreciated!

From their point of view it may not be equal. It depends on how they write off the rental. USAA has always gotten me what I want though, so I doubt it would hurt to ask them.
If it were me, I'd drive the rental. It's free, I have no interest in driving a busted car, and it's only a week. I was in a chevy malibu for almost 2 months while waiting for my 1er to get repaired once. THAT was painful.
