I've bought all the stuff for my Alpine upgrade - L7 Subs, the main kit and the new tweeter housing. I was hoping to get Mak to fit this when I was working in London but I don't think it's possible so I may have to bite the bullet and do it myself.

I haven't yet bought the tweeter foam that goes inside the housing. Is this necessary? I understand a few people have had tweeter rattle/crackle after the install and was wondering if this was due to the foam not being in place or is this due to the Hifi coding not being done and the levels are simply too high.

The new foam inserts for the tweeters are designed to hold the speaker in place, without it the speaker would be loose.

The speaker clips into the housing. The foam is need to stop the road noise. It is possible to use your existing foam but you'll need to cut a bit out to accommodate the tweeter.

Either way, you need to the foam.... otherwise you'll get a lot of outside noise.
