and on Thursday their premium gas is 3 cents cheaper (so it becomes the price of medium grade). Been using it for a while it seems alright for an off brand gas.

Shell V Power is still probably a little better.

Ultramar isn't exactly off brand. They are a fairly large chain across canada more so in the east though.

Most gas at any station is essentially off the same truck regardless if its shell, esso, petro ect.

Shell supplies its on fuel
Ultramar is subsidiary of CST canada-
Esso is imperial Oil along with Canadian Tire..
Petro Can is self sufficient but owned by larger Suncor which owns Sunoco in states and that is why they still offer Ultra94

if that's the case then why does esso's 91 contain 10% ethanol and canadian tire's doesn't?

I was under the impression both were free of ethanol... even though I have read all fuels including shell have been tested positive for ethanol.

I have always had very good experiences with Ultramar gas. I don't know why but it always felt like the car had slighly better response while running smoother and I always get a bit more mileage out of a tank of Ultramar. Observation comes from a few years of usage on different cars throughout the years. But that's just my opinion.

Suncor no longer has any affiliation with Sunoco in the USA.

They all usually say "May contain UP to 10% Ethanol"

Its actually opposite. Sunoco which was Suncor bought Petro Canada and rebranded its Sunoco stations to Petro

Ultramar 91 is good for NA n52 + tune
I also like Esso 93 for my n52 +tune, its better than Petro 94 for me.
Shell 91 is alot like Ultramar, the difference isn't noticeable.
My rank for n52
Esso 93, Shell 91, Ultramar 91/Canadian tire 91, Petro94

Been using Costco gas from day one with an occasional fill from petro or esso. Car loves it. Haven't had any issues.

Spoke with the truck driver that delivers gasoline to Costco, in regards to the supplier and quality. He said it comes from Shell, Petro, or Esso and they supply top tier. Costco apparently has a strict guideline in respect to quality of gasoline.

Not sure about Ultramar quality, but you want to stay away from fuels with Ethanol in them. Jay Leno recently posted an interesting video about all the gas tanks that he had to pull and restore out of his classic cars due to ethanol-containing fuels.

I used to be a big fan of Ultra94, but it also contains ethanol. As far as I know, the two fuels that do not contain ethanol in Canada are Petro-Can's 91 SuperClean and Shell V-Power.

On the Ultramar pumps the Premium does not have a label saying it may contain ethanol. Only the Regular and Mid grade has the label.
