Service question, what could be needed
My 2008 328i says I need service in 400 miles. I went through the list of service items in the computer and none of them show service required any time soon. Next one is around 2000 miles.
Does anyone know what service items there are beyond the ones listed in the computer/owners manual that it will report? I have no idea what service I will be going in for and no idea what it will cost. Thanks! |

This is not for a standard service. For those it will list oil change on the computer in the car. None of the standard service items displayed in the LCD above the speedometer indicate need for service.
I was wondering what service the car can detect is needed that are not covered by the various service icons. Does anyone know? Thanks! |

Tom is correct. If the symbol is just the "red-car-on-lift" with no other service indicators due, then it is the 30,000 mile inspection (analogous to BMW's old "Inspection II" service). Since your car is approaching 85K, nee 90,000 miles, it is probably a case where any service around the 60K mark the technician probably did the Inspection II service (it's just checking stuff through out the car like lights, CV boots, lube locks etc.) and reset the CBS. Now you've racked up another 30,000 miles and the Inspection II service is now due again.
