Teach me about DDE

I think I am using the right abbreviation, I have a suspicion it is the root of my problems with my D.
I need some background info about what update i need, and is this a dealer only fix. If not where to order from and if I can fix it myself.

I am currently getting aprox 10.7 l per 100km and have a stutter at low speed rpms, initially on take off with some blips during driving idle seems fine. I know I have a boost leak which will add to the poor fuel economy. Cbu has been done recently, fuel filter this weekend start with the simple.
Last time I scanned it engine smoothness on 6 and 3 I think multiple came up.
Really doubt its the injectors; piezo injectors are very reliable in my experience and have a feeling bmw is throwing parts at the problem. which leads me to the dde.
Any old threads appreciated so I can try to get some background information on this issue. Electrical schematics would be nice. (Yosh might have sent me them already.) I am debating purchasing the bm technic pro tool for coding. Dont know if I can time the injectors or not.. Done them on Cat common rail engines, that being said this isnt a Cat motor.

Thanks in advance..

Have you got your diagnostic tools yet. If not you are welcome to borrow mine. Boost leak will add to a poor fuel economy. Have you ran the parameters to check the intake air temp sensor functionality? MAF may cause issues as well. If you want we can swap mine over to check. They are easy. I am not sure if coding or adaptations are needed though. I also have an Dcan cable. Download the software onto your PC. Torque and BMWhat have their limitations. But at least start with parameters to look at boost, air flow, temps, etc.

I would try getting yours updated to the latest I-level by the dealer. It seems to solve a lot of issues with the DDEs.

I think an hour of shop time would be reasonable. If you look at the service bulletins, most of them show the "fix" to be an updated revision of the DDE.
