would converting my interior lights to led cause multiple electrical errors

So I'm at BMW Centennial Drive and my SS just told me the reason my reverse light is failing is due to multiple electrical errors. It would need several hours to diagnose. Would internal led lights upgrade cause this? They've been in the car for last few years. Should I change them back for warranty purposes? I told them I'll reschedule the diagnosis for another day and they can do the Vanos bolt recall then too.

Are you getting a code in the on-board computer?

Most interior LED lights, unless they're cheapo eBay ones, are error free. I haven't heard of this happening and I have LED interior lights as well.

Only error code was for reverse light malfunction. Nothing else popped up. I bought leds from a sponsor here and they have been error free.

Is it actually malfunctioning? or are you just getting that code. Once in awhile I would get a left brake lamp malfunction warning but there's no issues. I looked it up and it seems like this is happening to a lot of folks (brake light, reverse light). I had this issue before I changed all my lights to led as well. If it is really malfunctioning, maybe there's a loose connection. Did you actually check at all? I find that majority of bmw techs have no idea what's going on.

I got some LED's from some guy on here as well and after installation they are ok for up to 30 seconds then the system turns them off (both dome and map lights if I turn them on manually), I got pissed and went to bmw and got a set from them and been happy ever after. But anyway, don't think internal lights have anything to do with the reverse, I don't even think they are on the same fuse (don't have my car to check it but I believe they should not be on the same fuse).

AGREE !!! those boys depend on the computers so much these days that they forgot how to use their brains and take a moment and think logically to find a problem or what could cause it lol

The light is actually malfunctioning. I checked the bulb and it's ok. As for wiring I poked around but didn't delve too deep to find the cause. It probably is a loose connection somewhere. I've checked the forum and they're are multiple instances of just loose or wires breaking. Which should be an easy fix. I'll ask my brother in law at import autowerks

Hold the BC button for 10 seconds and get the code. Chances are if you search that code on the forums, you'll find an error and possible cause. I started having issues with my pre-LCI taillight boards and used it as an excuse to upgrade to LCI.

Just an update. So the BC button didn't show any code. And I just got off the phone with my SA. He told my FRM module wasn't working and it was probably caused by my after market interior lights and AE bulbs at a cost of $803. Those aftermarket lights work..but the reverse lights which were stock don't. Anyway gonna have it replaced but not from the dealership. See if that fixes the problem.

Can you please explain your issues? Mine randomly says I have a taillight out while driving but when I check it's fine...

BMW Peabody is the worst. I can't stand their service dept. Every time I've rolled in there, they've made some sort of condescending remark about my car because it's modified. A bunch of elitist snobs

+1 This is why I never go there, Tully in Nashua is much friendlier & respect your car the way it is. Always had a great experience with Tully every time

I had the same brake light malfunction and I have not done an electrical work to my car. My mechanic noticed it a few weeks back when he was working on the car and told me that this is a common problem, he checked the bulb and said it was on its way out and changed it. He charged me like 15-25 dollars for the bulb and I haven't seen the error since.

I started getting bulb out errors. Replaced bulbs, same thing intermittently. Found out some people posted that the boards in the lights were acting up. Hated the Pre-LCI tails anyways. Forced upgrade IMO.
