I am quoted 413 for parts at bmw. That includes the new CAS module and keys. They have not been able to quote me on labour cost.

what really worries me now, is that someone WANTS my car. So no matter what I do, they will take it.
Is it worth paying the money to get things improved? Git a dislock on it, will switch off OBD, replace the CAS module, new keys..It will probably just slow them down. So Im really thinking of selling the car before they take it.

The car will stay under 24 hour security car park next to Lamborghinys and Ferraris until I improve the overall security. Massive Wheel lock(already bought) , obd removed, CAS module replaced with new keys, highest thatcher alarm security so the car will go mad as soon someone gets only close it
And it will be parked on a road, where there is a 24 hour security car goin up and down the street with houses worth 10s of milions. The owners know why they got private security...
If there are Lamborghinis and Ferraris, then why would they have bothered with your car? And why sell it? They got seen by your neighbor. Likely they'll never be back. Not sure what country you are in, but in mine, car theft is much worse in big cities. I now live in a smaller city with lower crime rates But I'm still security conscious...I've had my car(s) broken into 3 separate times when I was much younger, and it is like a personal invasion. It hurts! It's really not personal though. They don't care who you are! But why sell the car? Easier to disconnect the battery with a secret switch. or buy a gun and wait for them to return. Or rent a garage space that can at least be locked. If it's out of sight, that's 90% of security. They can't steal what they don't know is there.

^ what he said. Install a kill switch.

Go on Ebay and order a gps tracker, place it in the car and go to sleep.

think you misunderstood my message m8. The ferraris and Lambos are parked at a secure car park, not where I live. My car is there now just to protect it for now as they probably have cloned keys now and just wait for my car with a repaired window to turn up in front of my house.

With the sell...Unless I move to a new place where there is undergound parking available, I cant have this car as it is very eye catching.
Also I do not want live in a constant fear. So might get something cheap not attractive and sleep well..

I see what you meant now. Well, do what you have to. I personally would just never keep important things inside the car. If you have insurance, and they steal it, you're at least covered (my insurance company covers very little on personal property inside the car). I wouldn't let some scumbag prevent me from owning the car I want. Im guessing you live in England and can't own a gun/personal protection... sad. I would never live there because of that and other reasons...

So the home owner has a gun to protect himself from the thief, and the thief has a gun because the home owner has a gun?!

How do you solve gun problems......with more guns?!

How would a gun have helped here?

A little Girl coming to the balcony was enough to scare the thieves off.

OP: I would not let the thought of something getting taken deter you from owning it.
Why drive around in a crappy car you dont enjoy just because somebody might take what you have.
Make reasonable measures to secure the car. For example get the software update done and move the ODB II port.

I guess the issue would be if they already programmed the key and will now just come back with it another time.

On a more lighter note, if one can be had on this post, you might want to park a little further away from the Kerb in future! Not that it will stop your car from being nicked, but it might protect your gorgeous Wheels
if you're parked close, they can't steal the wheels. Just watch your mirror when you back in and you'll be fine.

what about wiring a switch in somewhere that disconnects the ignition wiring, and only completes the circuit when it's held in while starting (hidden button under dash, center console etc)

Good quality Locking nut will deter the kerbside wheel thief! and looking in your mirrors whilst maneuvering forwards won't help the wheel grinding into the kerb!

A good aftermarket alarm salesman team vI sited you. They won't be back but I would upgrade to a better aftermarket alarm with shock, motion, proximity, light flashers, and smart phone notification. Changing your car would be silly. Go spend a few hundred for some peace of mind. Criminals can still go after your car, but they will typically pass for an easier target.

Sounds like it might be time to let your gf drive the 335 if you can't avoid curbs driving forward

And if you honestly think any nut out there can't be removed with a socket in 15 seconds, you're living in a bubble

what I'm referring to:

basically, just take a slightly larger socket, hammer it on, and remove. Any mechanic/tire shop monkey knows this trick.

What ever!!....................not going to ruin someone else thread arguing the toss with you about driving pal.. My original comment was said with a certain amount of humor and tongue in cheek, sounds like you want to give every one a lesson in driving and pinching wheels!

Nuff said on someone else's thread.

considering my OEM lightweights were stolen off my M3 this past year the ONE TIME I parked 12" away from the curb, yes, I thought it could be a valuable lesson

but if you're honestly that afraid to get near a curb, that's your business
