Like WM I went for the monthly basis when my car was on roughly 30k, still paying the same low rate per month on a rolling basis.

BMW warranty haven't contacted me about my mileage etc and I'm now at 66k

£60 per month!

Why not have a punt; save £60 in a savings account, in 12 months you will have enough money to cover the vast majority of repairs at a non-franchised garage. If you have BMW service history, even a major problem would probably attract some kind of contribution from the company.

A few years ago, I had an Audi A4 engine blow out 3 months out of warranty. Audi gave me a courtesy car for a couple of weeks and fixed it FOC.

Thats a good point and i'm considering this as well. £60 includes emergency service, £53 is without (£0 excess). But the thing is if something major goes, like turbos or gearbox, then the money i put in the savings wouldn't be enough. I just would like peace of mind as well as i've had a few turbo/gearbox related issues in the past on this car.

That's more a stroke of luck I'd say.
I think most manufacturers would look a little sympathetically if your engine blew up just out of warranty purely from an ongoing customer relations/reputation point of view. If your car's 4/5 years old and it has no warranty left, I very much doubt they'd be supportive at all.

I specifically looked for a car way under 60k, so when the AUC ran out id still be under 60k lol.

Mines due in April, im happy enough to pay £40 a month, but feel £60 is abit steep.

Ive already had 2 new turbos and a boost solenoid on it though, at £60 a month it would roughly take 5years 9 months to pay that off (assuming 4k for turbos and £300 for the solenoid)

What sort of figures are you getting from other independant warranty providers?

BMW/Mondial warranty used to be relatively good value because it tied you into the dealer servicing so they could shaft you that way instead.

It's a betting game. Personally I'd put £100/m into an ISA or something, as sort of "hedge fund".

90%+ chances are you'll have no major issues anyway and be quids in other than minor issues you can fix yourself or at a local indy. If you do need major work it's not a good idead to go to a franchised dealer anyway, that's just wasting money for sure. If the car is 4/5 years old forget new OEM major parts, you'd use recon'd gearbox or turbos or engine etc.

Post above mentions £4K for turbos WTF? More like £1500 all in & fitted (new OEM units) from a good indy, done in a day (less £ if recon units used)

Also BMW / Mondial warranty prohibits modifications

That price is what id read on here, for both turbos, replaced at a dealer.
I didnt actually get an invoice for my work done, with a price on.

But I agree, obviously if your paying you wouldn't get it done at the stealers.

Id like to know what the dealers, or BMW uk would say about covering turbo/fuel pump issues if you have coilovers fitted.

For new car BMW UK warranty you'd be ok probably.

But we're talking about the aftermarket insured MONDIAL warranty just bagded as "BMW". It's not a BMW backed warranty per se.

They'll look for any excuse not to pay out, just like warrantydirect etc.
