New SCR tank, MRS module... and 8 more MPG?!

Howdy,
Sent my car in monday for a new SCR tank and MRS (airbag) module under CPO. I'm pretty sure the car got a software update in the process as well... and the great thing is, my mileage is back! I've struggled to get 30mpg (granted it is hilly around here) and now I got 38 without even trying (haven't seen anything like this since I bought it 9 months ago). I thought CBU/winter d2 was the cause of the decrease in MPG but now I'm wondering what the software update did. Anyone else with a similar experience?

I have an x5d right now and my mileage dropped slightly, but not 3 mpg worth. Although the temps were in the 20s here for only a few days. The car will spray more fuel when its cold in order to warm it up faster. There are many other points in this article http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/coldweather.shtml
Make sure your tire pressure isnt too low. I had to bump mine up about 3 psi because its so cold out.
