Accident Advice?? HELP!
Hi all need a bit of advice if possible.
On monday during my daily commute I was in the outside lane of a roundabout when a lorry tried to move into my lane from my right and hit passenger side - the front of the lorry hit my rear quarter and rear wheel, we stopped and he admitted it was his fault got details etc etc... just chased for an unpdate today and his insurance are disputting it with the driver claiming not to have hit me. I am getting pictures over to the insurance company now but my question is what else can i do? I dont think there is any cctv around there but i'll look into it, do those cameras on top of the traffic lights do anything? Also for those of you in the know if i could retrieve cctv footage of my car and the lorry elsewhere just before the accident showing the damage wasnt there would that be any good? Thanks James |

Did you not get any pics at the scene?
If not then do you have a description of the driver and their contact number (mobile) etc? We had something similar a couple of years ago when a woman drive into the back of my wife's car. My wife didn't have her phone on her at the time so no pics etc. she did get the licence plate number and had a matching description of the driver and car etc. That was enough for our insurance company to happily pursue it. The woman kept claiming she was nowhere near where the accident happened etc. Our insurance company said that with the details and description it would be hard for the woman to deny it as my wife couldn't just make up the correct description or both the woman and car. It worked out in the end for us. Hopefully it works out for you.

DAMN. Hope them 313's are OK!!!!
on the other note. you will probably find yourself in a long ongoing dispute now. but try and keep record of every convo etc you have with this guy for proof. and never admit liability whatever you do |

Thanks the replies guys although it's not looking good at the minute... Apparently it's don't to me to prove the collision did take place - the guy is simply saying there was no contact at all. I have sent them pictures of the damage to both vehicles - and pointed out his white paint is still on my car! Haven't heard if this will make a difference though as my case is still to be fully reviewed!!!
Does anyone know how I can find out if there are any cctv/traffic cameras covering the area of the accident? I have contacted my local council and highways agency but still waiting for a reply Thanks again |

Thanks both. Yeah there was obviously contact and the pics tell it all but apparently they don't guarantee anything.
Do either of you have any experience with non fault companies you could recommend? |

I work within the accident management industry. Who are you insured with? Usually your insurer will direct you to their appointed accident management company in the event of a non-fault accident.
CCTV footage either showing both vehicle's with no damage prior to the incident or CCTV footage of the actual incident would be a massive help for you. Were there any witnesses at the scene? These days is usually best to obtain an independent witness in the event of a dispute. Was the lorry owned by a company (i.e. Tesco) you may find that the fleet manager for the particular company are disputing the incident without even speaking with the driver at the time! In cases like this, if you can get as much information to throw at the other drivers insurer as possible such as: accident location, date/time, description of the vehicle, description of the driver (or name), how details were exchanged etc will all help. As someone said above, why would the driver stop and give details if he wasn't involved. Paul |

can anyone recommend a good non fault accident company? this looks like it might drag out a bit which is frustrating. I've been told it can take 7-10 days from the accident for my claim to actually be reviewed by admiral.
is the company lorry likely to have any recording equipment which might help my claim? I'm trying to get hold of someone in the company that might let it slip but so far no luck |

The lorry may have tracking equipment, this is often used by large fleet companies to track where a vehicle is in an event like this and to ensure their vehicle's are not being used for personal use by employees. Paul |

They put me through to Albany assistance on the day of the accident when they deemed me not at fault but now the driver is saying he didn't hit my car I haven't heard anything from them and admiral are still waiting to review my case because of a 'back log'
It's ridiculous it's been almost 2 weeks and they haven't done anything! I'm going to look into the accident management company advised above |

There are three basic things that can happen.
Unfortunately accidents are just things people aren't prepared to deal with until you've had one. You need to gather all evidence at scene and make the other person phone their insurer admitting fault before you go anywhere. It's so common that people just lie after and you have a very difficult job proving anything. Getting a witness isn't easy either, as people just want to get on their way. |
