Engine Oil Breather
Dear all,
Just some advice please, I am in the process of changing the oil breather; the existing oil breather is covered by a cover, I have removed the bolts around but cant seem to dislodge the cover covering the oil breather. Any suggestions please? |

Hi, yep took scuttle panel off. That part you see is the back part of the engine cover.
There is a cover on the left hand side that needs removing, did you have to.. It was going so well, your instructions were perfect. |

many thanks mistryn, i yanked as hard as I dare (the cover...) on a sunday but gave in finally. I think the 330d differs in that is has a cover covering the oil breather on the left side. Can't see the same cover in your pictures. I disassembled following your instructions, but fell over at the last hurdle. Feel better if I change the part rather than the dealership. This cover is part of the engine and also extends to the air intake system.
Thanks for your help on this. |

Hi guys, I have she same problem. I am trying to remove oil breather from my 2006 330xD e92. I unscrewed 5 screws on it but it does not move at all. Did you find a solution for this?
Thanx... |

the early breathers were the loo roll type filter and where prone to blocking causing turbo problems this was changed to the upgraded breather which should be the vortex type it has no filter consists of a rubber diafram activated by pressure.
