Exhaust options?
What is your favorite exhaust? What are you running? Post a video?
I have been looking around for the last 6 months but I really haven't found many recent videos of exhaust systems that have blown me away. My stock n55 is too quiet for my taste. As much as I love VRSF products I don't believe the exhaust note is loud enough for my taste, same with the BMW performance exhaust. I have been considering the Vanguard exhaust but I don't see them for sale anymore. Does that leave me with only Eisenmann and Remus?

Theirs the Active Autowerke exhaust but they are currently on back order. There's also the Cobb exhaust but the design is similar to the VRSF. They say most of the N54 exhaust should fit for the N55. Good luck with the search.

Love my Dinan free flow exhaust. Throaty when I want it to be, quiet when I don't.
The gorgeous black tips match my BSM car quite well too! |

Wow the Dinan does sound pretty nice, I normally steer clear of Dinan and Cobb due to the extra cost that comes with the name but it doesn't look like there are many exhaust options under $1200 anyways.

vangaurd exhaust is a decent exhaust with a good exhaust note are they still around?
I even like the HKS one with the burnt tips but they aren't everyone's taste. I have vangaurd and I don't regret it one bit drone isn't bad but maybe it's because I use to have a straight piped G37 before and I don't mind it is all |

I personally have the BMW performace exhaust paired with a catless DP and think it sounds the very best on our N55 engines....this is just my opinion though.
If you search BMW N55: BMW Performance Exhaust + AR 4" catless You will find a video where the camera is on the passenger seat....it't music to my ears....

If you're willing to go catless, my setup is simply a DP + stock muffler. However if I come across a cheap 335is muffler I'm going to do that. Keeps it quiet when desired but sounds amazing when you give it gas. Don't be afraid of second hand exhausts (they are only pipes after all)

I will have to see if I can find a local with the BMW PE exhaust to hear it for myself. Considering it was from BMW I expected it to be pretty tame and not worth the $1200-$1600 I have seen it go for.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Just ordered my VRSF DP yesterday to get the ball rolling.

oem exhaust mod sounds the same as most exhausts mentioned in this thread and costs only $150 bucks.

Cut open the top part of the factory muffler box, replace the perforated portion of the exhaust pipe with a straight pipe. weld the muffler back shut.
Magic, it sounds just the like PE exhaust, then you do catless dp's and it sounds like a beast. The PE exhaust is just a prettier version of the stock exhaust with no perforated pipes inside the muffler lol.. and people pay out the ass for it...
