WTF is an offset?

So, guess you can tell I am new to wheels and tires. 2011 E90 335i stock with 18" wheels with Sport Package.

My tires are pretty much new run flats so I want to keep and re-use them and it's time to buy new black wheels as I am almost finished with the exterior.

There are several variables so when I am shopping I can't determine if they will fit my car without making any modifications. I MAY at some point get wheel spacers to push them out a bit but that's not too important.

So, long way of asking whats the bolt pattern, offset and optional rear fitment?

Entering in my vehicle on tire sites like Tire Rack.com still has variables like different spacing. My tires are even different sizes, front 22540R18 and rears 25535R18.

Am I over thinking this?

Here you can read info about offsets and other wheel related stuff http://www.flushstance.com/wheel-measurements/. Basically lower offset will push wheel more out, but wheel width affects to that also. Easiest way to understand how it affects is to use this calculator http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=12

Just input your current wheel size and new wheel size then compare. (You have to compare front and rear separately), it will tell you how much it extend or retract. I would assume you have 18x8 et34 front and 18x8.5 et37 rear.

Most common vendor recommended setup is 8.5 et35 front and 9.5 et40-45 rear to your LCI. You can use your current 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 with those sizes. You can fit wider and/or lower offset wheels also, but at some point fender work and other modifications are needed.

This is good example of pretty nice setup without tyre stretch and most likely no fender roll. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...35&postcount=1

Wow, Monacoblue, you have the exact wheels I'm trying to fit and exactly the look that I am after! I notice you have a nice concave on the front and you are slammed, mind if I ask what specs they are and what work was needed (I am assuming they are te37s, right?) And lastly, what tires you are running? Thanks!

EDIT: I read some of your member conversations on your profile, so I know your specs are exactly those that I'm trying to fit (9.5+22 all around, 225 front, 255 rear), so I guess my question becomes 'did you need any fender work for those tires on those rims?' and does it change anything that I have an e92 Xi? Thanks again bro.

They are replica wheels from Varrstoen. Front size is the same as you plan, but my rear wheel is 18x10.5 et15 with 255/35/18. I didn't do any fender work at front, but i have some negative camber. It's about -1.5 to -2 now, because how the air suspension shocks are build. Before with coils i had about -1 and it was fine. You can't do nothing to your fenders. Rear was more tricky (fender roll and some shaving and close to -3 camber), but it is also more aggressive than what you are planning and i wont recommend this size to E92, because those have slightly less room at back, but 10.5 with higher offset would fit more of that in your own thread.

Only thing xdrive changes is that you need to keep tyre diameter difference under 1%. The 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 combo will work
