Brake pad warning: at 3800 miles...?

Started the car to head to class today and I was greeted by a warning on the iDrive screen telling me I need to replace my brake pads. First tire pressure, then my right rear brake light, now my brake pads, all in less than two weeks?

I've done my fair share of spirited driving, but I don't track this car and I don't drive like a maniac every day. Is this in any way possible that through mostly average driving I need to replace my pads every 4000 miles? All of these sensor warnings in the same time frame cannot be a coincidence (and therefore, real) can they? 4000 miles??? I'm starting to regret this car...

you have faulty sensors or they need to be reprogrammed, i just got my car back from service for the same thing last week (only I had 10k miles). Shouldnt take more than a day to complete.

tire pressure fix is easy, just put air in the tires, and brake lights are just a blub swap away. at least bmw tells you how to chane bulbs rather than saying "take your car to the dealer immediately' like my previous audi.

My car has 13.5k on it. It has been in twice for this warning. They spent a day loading a new program. Six days later the light is back on. Screw it, I am not taking it back for a while.

Same exact thing...

First, I had the rear lamp error come up. I took it to the dealership, and they just swapped out one of my bulbs.

Then, I had the low-tire-pressure warning, but my tires actually WERE low, so I pumped them back up.

Then last Friday, I got the "brake" warning light. I took the car in, and my car's computer recorded that I had 400,000 miles on my front and rear brakes!! clearly, it was a computer malfunction, and the BMW dealership just reset the log. They said that they had the exact same problem with other models as well. As a matter of fact, while I was there, the service manager showed me a 6-series that was in service at that same time, and the 6-series computer said there were 1,000,000 miles on the car... rofl.

Per the service advisor, computer updates are pending.

Cry bitch moan. If everyone scoured the forums to find an issue similar to their own instead of asking, there would be no new posts. Maybe we should put a stop to all the people posting pics of their stock cars as well. Damn them.

Awesome idea! However, youd rather not see the point apparently. Theres the same post about the subject about three per page. If someone just took the time to just LOOK instead of posting we wont have all these people asking if its happened before.

Nope, but you learned right? We all get called out now and then. Dont take such offense to it. Accept and move on.

I hate to bump this thread after you two ladies had such fun, but I wanted to report that my brake pad warning sensor also just went off at 4100 miles.

I'm a bit pissed I now need to remove my piggyback and have my car serviced for faulty electronics (over-engineering?), but that's the price you pay haha. Maybe I'll have them do an oil change while they are at because the 13k mile service that my car is recommending is a joke.

i've had a PUMA case made out of my "rear brake light" warning and had to go in once to get the bulb changed, then again to get the entire housing changed.....im still not sure if its fixed. Im due for a full software update becuase of all my false warnings, INCLUDING the false brake pad warning
