That is the one for the book of standing your ground pays off. Most people could not be bother. Good work and what did they finally say when the weight was 600 lbs less, you must have some fat drivers in that truck.

No reaction at all from driver. I sent an e-mail to the Atlas agent about 24-hours ago and have yet to hear from them.

Update...

Agent just e-mailed saying they will be refunding close to $800 back to my CC. The end is almost in sight!

In Cali there's a law that movers can only charge I believe 10% over the estimate. We found this when we moved the mother in law from British Columbia to Socal and they tried to charge her close to 25% over estimate. They backed down real quick when the wifey's brothers sent them the law and internet link. BTW they held her stuff for ransom until that email was sent and wifey's step dad was disabled which made not having his hospital bed really bad. Had to sleep in his chair for a night.
Good for you standing up to this, too many people do not.

20% off is a lot - you know how much you weigh right? check if it's massively miscalibrated - otherwise you're using the scale incorrectly and it's not catching the full weight. Final result is they're padding the number, which is the most likely scenario.
I was kidding.

I used Allied for my past relocation, some of my stuff was damaged but the agent was quick to settle claims.

The actual movers on the other hand were not the brightest bunch: I think the inventory listed my coffee table as "coffie table"

Having been through 3 relocations for both my home and car, I think the running excuse is "that's the way our business works". I once asked if photos could be used to document pre-existing and delivery damage and the response was "no, photos can be edited".

that's so messed up.

there can be compensation for broken things (even if it's a joke) but what happens when there's broken service?

all of the broken things can be replaced but there's no accountability for their terrible service and that's more upsetting imo.
