Looking to stretch.. help on sizes?
What up guys, finally picked up a new set of wheels for my e90. Im looking to get some stretch on these bad boys. Specs: front- 18x8.5 Rear-18x9.5. Im not educated at all in tire sizing and what not. Which tires would give me a good stretch. Thanks in advance

To stretch 18x8.5 you'll need 215/40 and since you're X you'd need 245/35 in the rear to stay within the 1% difference range. I'm not an Xdrive expert though so I'll defer to one of them.

Stretch is fine dont listen to the nitrousbird lol. If you want stretch go for it.
It would look better to stretch wheels with more aggressive specs but you can still work with those. check out tyrestretch.com to see if those sizes mentioned above are as stretched as you want them to be if so they seem fine. Also you probably need spacers depending on the offsets of the wheels to get some poke and aggressive fitment. |

Yes the 215/40/18 and 245/35/18 would work. As well as 225/40/18 and 255/35/18, but those have minimal stretch.

Yes, it's always best to lower the performance abilities of your vehicle just to make it look funny. I was wrong.
Don't forget the 3' wing on the trunk lid to finish off the look. And the extreme negative camber to keep half the tire off the ground. |

I'm sure Albany, NY has some amazing roads where you wouldn't need tire protection for your wheels. I always found it odd to have your wheel sticking out an inch+ away from your tire but whatevs.

I love stance and stretched tires.
However, 8.5/9.5 is silly to stretch on. You stretch tires to gain fitment if you're rubbing. It's extremely unlikely that you're rubbing with 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 unless you have like sub 15 offset. I mean I've been through this route before, so in short you should just buy wheels that are aggressive as want them to look and not use spacers. Here is a funny story that many can relate to and my point is that you should get aggressive wheels to start with and work your way up from there and not go through what I did: I bought wheels that are conservative in specs and had oem tire sizes on them (ones in my signature). Stance started growing on me so I bought 6 pairs of spacers all in different sizes. Rubbing began so I got my fenders rolled, after fixing the rubbing issue I wanted to push my wheels out again so I replaced the spacers with bigger spacers. Well obviously it started rubbing again after increasing the spacer sizes by 10mm, so I needed negative camber. After adding negative camber, your wheel gaps look larger than before so it made me go from H&R sports to coilovers. Lower = more rubbing so I needed to shrink the tire sizes. Went down 10mm in tire width in both F/R, gained about 6mm of clearance so I added a 5mm spacer and started rubbing again. Basically you're never satisfied until your rims are poking past your fenders to get that stanced look. Till this day, I'm still rubbing on huge bumps with my new 19x9.5/19x11 wheels but stanced look achieved.
