Inpa software and cable

Hi Guys, long shot - but i know a lot of you have moved up from an e46.

I've moved down from the 335d and now have a 2006 E46 330i. The dreaded SRS Airbag light has just appeared so i'm looking to purchase a cable to connect from the car to my laptop and get hold of the inpa software. From what i have read the INPA software seems freely available, i'd just prefer if someone could direct me to a reputable source - likewise for the cable.

In same boat. I have Ebay cable that doesn't work. Bought it for $25. Not from this seler but the product I assume is the same.

I got one from cable shack on eBay. Came with a DVD with it all on. Very simple install and great service from the seller.

cable shack works

The cheap ebay ones won't do D-CAN. They are physically missing the chip that the more expensive cables have.

Do you also need the 2 specific pins shorted out for the E46?

I bought a generic DCAN cable off eBay (£30ish), downloaded the software for free from various website.

The cable works fine for general coding, but doesn't work for Alpina Transmission flash.
