2011 335D - Many SES lights
Hi everyone! To make a long story short, I bought a 335d from BMW of Sterling in early December 2014. 3 weeks later, I get an SES light. I bring it to the dealership near my house, Wide World of Cars BMW, and the lady says it was a mass air flow sensor code, they cleared it, tested it, car's fine. 162 dollars later I was sent on my way, with her telling me that the previous dealership had to reimburse me if anything. I said, F it, not worth the hassle, and thought everything was going to be ok...
A week passes, I get another SES. Not one for being a chump, I get myself the BMWHAT app, and scan the code. Fault: DFC Code 474c and Fault: Air flow meter signal code: 3FF1. I reset it and went on my way. Every week since then I have gotten the 3FF1 code, and every week I reset it. I finally call up the service department at Wide World BMW, ask to speak to a different rep than the lady I dealt with, and he told me to bring it in. Well, I took a day off, spent 4 hours there waiting for a loaner, and was told the diagnostics wasn't done yet, and that there are no loaners available. Is this bad service, or is this something I should get used to because I own a BMW? Anyway, I think what is going on is that there is some carbon built up, causing the car to throw this code, thoughts? |

2011 should still be under the warranty no?? I have 2009 and still warranty till august. What is your mileage?
From my CBU experience there is no really one good code that can tell you if there is CBU issue. I had my experience with the dealer till they agreed to check for CBU and finally cleaned up and the car seamed to be good. Look at the mileage, mine happened at around 53K |

58k miles currently on the car. I was called in for a loaner, got an X1. I can't, for the life of me, understand why someone would buy one of those things, but I digress.
They will look at possible carbon buildup tomorrow, will keep you all updated. |

A 2011 would be out of original 4yr/50,000 miles warranty. The 2009 cited above would most likely be extended warranty.

Welp, I'm happy to say that the dealership is doing a goodwill carbon removal and repair on my 335D! It looks like I am completely covered on this, they will be cleaning/replacing all the necessary parts and doing all the labor themselves.
Let's hope it drives nice after this. |
