what obdII tool do you use for scanning codes
Just a random question since I'm looking to get one off eBay for about 50-70$ but wondering if you guys have any preference on certain tools that'll do certain work and to what extent. I'm trying to scan an overheating problem I'm having with my e90 although I have a wp and ts ready to get put in this weekend.
Any info is appreciated thanks a lot guys! |

I bought some orange thing off Ali Express for like 15 bucks, works great for getting (non-BMW-specific) codes.

I have a blue one that was on sale at Canadian Tire one week - just for general OBDII codes/CEL. I don't think I paid even $20 for it, but it's worked fine for 4-5 years so far. I keep it in my trunk just in case.
EDIT: It's an Innova 3030 |

I use an ELM wifi to diagnose and clear errors on my iPhone via BMWhat. Adapter costs 8 bucks.
Then I also have an ELM327 USB cable that i use with OBD software to connect to the car. 8 bucks too. This was the first I bought, so it became redundant. I also have another USB cable to code my car with inpa and NCS expert. 8 bucks too. |
