PLEASE HELP: How can I make my exhaust louder?
I have a 328i (yes not much but whatever) and I have a BMW Performance muffler on it currently. It sounds great but I'm wondering how I can make it louder. Should I put in a different resonator and do a muffler delete? Or throw in some new piping? Any tips on this would be great. I've heard a lot of really good sounding 328s and they kind of opened my eyes and showed me the best that can be made from a smaller engine (thought i had a decent exhaust)

sell it completely and get supersprint headers, straight piped all the way out the back.

Headers and PE rocks. CA emissions won't like it but it's the balls.

To the op: OP don't devalue your 328 by the first line.. We all have them in here.. delete your secondary cats Go Into the thread with the exhaust clips and I have a video of mine on the last page. If you delete the secondaries yours will sound like that |

Yeah, me too. At least the cams have shipped. Only thing left to ship now is the CF roof. And to talk with the engine builder. But we'll run dynos first and then more after the new exhaust system is in. Then maybe more sound clips unless they want to start all the work immediately, dunno.

Thanks for the info. Sorta forgot everyone has a 328 here. I'll look into the headers and deleting the cats. Once I take them out I can just place in regular piping that matches the diameter, correct?

or you can get AFE mid pipes which are a helluva lot easier to work with

If you want to keep the muffler, the most significant thing you can do is probably headers. For just sound though (the performance gains are minimal), it is a pretty penny to oay.
Deleting secondary cats/resonators can help a bit but the loudest you can get is probably a muffler delete which sounds great on the n52's. I had a dual muffler/res delete and my car sounded AWESOME. Backfires sounded like shotgun blasts. Cheap set up, sounds great, but you have to deal with the drone. |

Actually the performance gains are significant, >20rwhp is more than a ten percent increase which is very noticeable. But yes it's expensive.

Delete secondary cats and resonator. Here's a thread on mine.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1003848 If you want even more, do a muffler delete as well. I opted for a cutout so I could choose between loud or quiet depending on how much of a toolbag I'm feeling. |
