Does the VANOS recall repair involve removing / draining any coolant?
I was taking a hard left turn for several floors around an airport parking garage and got my first ever "low coolant" warning. I had the VANOS recall performed a few months ago and now I'm just wondering if they would have possibly had to remove a coolant hose in order to complete the repair. I'll just add a little bit of coolant to get the level up and monitor but I find the timing odd. But I wouldn't expect that they had to remove any coolant hose for this recall repair so it doesn't make sense to me.

Work on the VANOS wouldn't involve the coolant. Cars lose coolant as a natural course of using them. Just top it off and don't worry about it.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Also hate these situations just from the point that you tend to wear the shoulders of the outer front tyre (depending on which way you are turning) quite badly - these low speed sharp turns. But yes, all the fluids are then being forced to one side.

Turns out it was only a little low. Dealer topped it off for free which was cool. The SA said "they all do that" speculating it was just a little evaporation over time especially if you don't see any coolant on the ground or evidence of a leak in tr engine bay (which I do not.)
