Scratching my head: ATF Smell

Ever since I did my mechatronic sleeve/pan & atf change I get atf/gear oil smell through my vents when I drive hard or for long periods of time. I have yet to see any staining of the underpan of my car when I take them off and the transmission itself looks dry. I typically can't even smell the atf from outside the car when I'm under it or in the engine bay. I did put about .5 qts more in than came out, maybe it's coming out of some vent?

Anyone have a clue? I'll get back under it this weekend

Thanks!

Wow this is weird, I have the exact same thing going on right now. Did a fluid change, more went in than I was expecting, and now there is an ATF smell after a drive. I assume this transmission has a vent, every other transmission does. I'm a little surprised that it's that sensitive that a half liter extra would cause it to be venting a lot.

I bought another fill plug from the dealer in case the seal on it is letting some atf seep by.. $7 *shrug*

Do not remove the old fill plug with the engine not running or a bucket of oil will be gurgling out from the hole!

I *think* I figured it out. When I did my last oil change (around the time I changed ATF) I made quite a mess filling the car back up (wasn't paying attention).

Today I found a puddle of oil here:

closer look:

I think that oil is making its way out of that valley when I drive the car hard and that is what I'm smelling. Anyways, I hope it is

I flushed it out with hot soapy water.. and now I smell oily water lol
