Poll: Lower it or leave ZSP?
E90posters, I want your feedback regarding aftermarket lowering or leaving the ZSP in place. I'm torn because I like the look(of course) of lowered cars, but I also like being able to use the car as a normal car without the worries of a lowered one.
If I lowered it, it would be with H&R Sport springs and Bilstein dampers. I don't want to spend the extra money for coilovers. I'll be putting on 19" rims. I think of executions and JIMD1709's ride, both with zsp and they look pretty decent without lowering. Danny

Putting 19's will need to lower no doubt about it. Otherwise the car would look taller. Plus lowering gives you more agressive handling and looks. Best of both worlds.

As soon as you start messing with the suspension you will be opening Pandora's Box.
You'll spend $1500 on suspension that won't dramatically change the way your car handles. You'll have a harsher ride, hurt resale, and just add to the modding sickness. Then you'll need spacers, sway bars, new bushings... it never ends. Appreciate the great suspension that zsp is. Also, know that 19"s are purely for looks. Consider 18"s which are in my opinion pushing it in the practical dept, but if you keep them lightweight they'll be great. Good luck. |

I agree that lowering your car is mostly for asthetic (sp) purposes. My freind had his A4 lowered and he said he would never do it again. It leaves you with less functionality. i have speed bumps in my area and i think if i were to even creep over them, that it would be scraping.

Wow! Around 55% say no dropping it and 45% say yes!
I'm leaning on not lowering it. I will more than likely wait to see how the car sits on the new rims before I make a final choice. I've had major suspension mods in all my previous cars, so I do like the change of driving on the OEM setup. Danny

I agree. I paid good money for the sports package and i believe that BMW's setup will be close to optimal for my driving style.
If my car did not have the ZSP then i would def. go get some H&R's
