I'm planning to get the Xbox360 over a PS3, was recommended to get xbox cuz I'm only into the gaming part. Here are some questions.

I see alot of consules/bundles out there and was wondering if the Elite Console Bundle ($450) is the best deal?

I heard that the Xbox will die on you...Do I need to get replacement service plans (2 yr 64.99 from CompUSA) even tho Microsoft already have a 3yr warranty?

And for Online gaming...do I need the Xobx Live? (12 months for $41.99)

Wireless Racing Wheel....how good is it?

Anything else I need to buy/know?

I would just get the normal xbox 360 premium.. Has a year warranty form MS I always say if its going to break it will break the first year dont waste your money on a 3rd party service replacement (most profitable part of an electronics store then car audio). And yes and no about xbox live, some games you need gold which you have to pay for and its only $5 a month not that bad. As for the wheel never been a fan since I dont have a proper place to mount them.

not too sure about the bundles (havent been up to date with them)

if microsoft is already giving the 3 year warranty, why get the comp usa one? i got the xbox 360 first month it came out (november 05 i believe? i forget) and mine has yet to have a problem... i guess i am lucky. however i've heard of the overheating problems, xbox 360s shutting off and stuff, but havent encountered any.

xbox live is a must (IMO). im not sure if they're still doing it but there were xbox live cards for 12 months free.

not sure about the wheel.

you definately need to buy at least project gotham, halo, guitar hero, cod4

I was torn over getting the Elite or just the premium as well : There really is no NEED to get the elite, the premium will do you just fine. The elite has its perks, the nice black finish, the bigger hard drive. Both of them have HDMI ports now, and you need to get the HD-DVD player separately since the Elite does not play HD-DVDs (big let down). I ended up getting the Elite.. it was only 100 more anyway and I didn't care. The black finish is slick as hell and I can store alot of music and download more games now.

Definitely get the warranty. My first 360 needed to be replaced and with the warranty you just walk in and get a new one. With the Microsoft warranty, you have to mail it in and wait.

So go get one.. and then get Halo 3 !!!

No suggestions/comments on what Xbox to get (I'm in the same boat).

But put the purchase on your AMEX card. They will double the manufacturer's warranty. So 1-year of coverage becomes 2.

That goes for pretty mcuh any gold and premium tyoe card. Reason why my dad uses his credit cards on certain items.

ah, wasn't sure if other cards offered that too. I just use my AMEX for all electronic purchases.

Get the xbox 360 premium. It has everything you will need. Had my system for 6 months and havent even used 1 gig yet. Also, I would buy from gamestop or electronic boutique. For $50, they replace the system for up to one year No Questions Asked. So if you decide to mod your system and you screw it up, you can get a new one. Compusa will try to figure out what is wrong with the system and if you tampered with it that voids the service plan.

I was told that the Elite has a better cooling system as well....some series have the Falcon CPU (65nm Processor).
The bundles come with 2 games (Forza Motorsport 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance)
so for $450...is a no brainer

I'm prbly getting it at sharperimage, cuz I can get a 15% of with a new credit card purchase

For me I am waiting the PS3 is getting lower prices. They already come with a free game many places give you a controller now. You then can get 5 free blu ray movies.

So I am waiting just another month and then deciding what I am getting. PS3 once it gets a bigger collection seems to be more fitting.
