What on earth has been done here?!
So I began fitting my alpine retro fit kit yesterday, I have lifted the passenger side door sill only to find what looks like a poor bodge job of some kind..
Directly in line with the M badge on the kick plate, a red/brown wire has been tapped in to..this 'new' cable then heads straight in to a 3 amp fuse holder which splits in to two further wires, one feeding another 3 amp fuse and the other just to some coiled up wires..they both head forwards in the car and split up further again Now in my fuse box behind the glove box it looks as though one of the cables has been 'stuffed' in to a connection for what I believe is the rear windscreen wiper...but it's an E92...just to clarify that, it's stuffed in to the very top left section of the fuses, normally a block connector would be put in here I believe similar to the front windscreen wiper block below and to the left of it... Anyone got any idea what has been done here at all?! I will upload some pictures asap.. |

That's what I was looking for when I found the cables but there's nothing? Although I do have a cable with an old type Apple connector in the glove box but I doubt it's related to this at all?
Could it be related to a retro fit of oem Bluetooth? |

I haven't, no, I was half tempted to buy myself an Apple connection adapter thing, don't have anything with the old style connector! May give it a shot though see if it's anything to do with that

Why not write to the previous owner using details on the V5?
A quick phone call (assuming they ring you) might provide enlightenment.

I did think about it, the car has electric seats and heated and a couple of the wires went in underneath the floor insulation and off towards the gearstick area, may try and get hold of an old apply iPod or something, try it and then pull one of the fuses and try it, or pull the fuses and try the seats etc
Really curious as to what it is just because it looks like such a bad bodge job! |

Just had a look and both heated and electric adjusting seats are original to my car, it must be the ipod connection in the glove box, unless something else was fitted and previous removed but the bodged wiring left in place
