BMW E92 HiFi upgrade - JBL MS-8 + options.
Hi. I've recently upgraded my factory fitted HIFI system with MS-8 processor, logic 7 speakers and Alpine DDT-S30 tweeters. But unfortunately I want a bit more... If I run calibration on -25db, it produces to much bass from under seats, but on -16db It seems to sound better (balanced), but tweeters and midbass (door speakers) seems to be to hursh than. My tweeters came with crossovers, but not sure should I remove them and try again calibration? MS-8 already have crossovers, so I am a bit confused what should I do?
I've bought Alpine PMX-f640 4ch amplifier and planning to install it to run my front door midbass speakers and/or maybe run my front tweeters, but than my underseats woofers stays only with ms-8 powers... I am totally confused... I thought, maybe I could run rear midbass + tweeters and front tweeters & central speaker from MS-8, and underseat subwoofers with front midbass speakers with Alpine amplifiers? Not sure if front tweeters will be fine with just 18w @4ohm from MS-8 as they need 50w each? Maybe I should get one more amplifier? Another thing I'm not sure, am I won't run out with MS-8 channels? I also not entirely sure how to wire correctly all this setup... At the moment I'm using Technic harness, but I don't really want to cut it or destroy it, or cut any car's wires as I want setup to be reverseable. Thanks in advance for any inputs or thoughts! |

IF you are running your underseats on MS-8, then thats a big NO!
I think your post in not clear. You should mention; 1- What front drivers / mids are you using? 2- What underseats are you using? 3- What rear drivers are you using? What is being amped and what is coming from MS-8? Did you setup underseats as sub or part of two way system? All these things play significant role when you setup MS-8. People on here have spent years tuning and fine tunning MS-8.

Hi. Big thanks for a response! Sorry, for being not clear... Also I am not english, so sorry if it is a bit difficult to understand me..
I have Logic 7 mid range speakers installed in front doors and rear door cards, kenwood center speaker and HiFi original underseat woofers. I am running all of these speakers from MS-8 with Technic harness I purchased. Following settings: "The MS-8 speaker output configuration is: - CH1 = Left front - CH2 = Right front - CH3 = Left rear - CH4 = Right rear - CH5 = Center - CH6 = Left woofer - CH7 = Right woofer - CH8 = Not used Suggested setup: - skip input setup - Sub = 2, subsonic at 50Hz at 18dB slope, low pass at 200Hz at 12dB slope - Front = 1-way - Center = 1-way, 160Hz at 18dB - Sides = 1-way, 160Hz at 18dB Calibration volume = -25dB Main volume after calibration = -6dB" I purchased Alpine tweeters and Alpine amplifier as mentioned above. I want to power front door speakers and underseat woofers with Alpine amp. How to do this correctly? Also Alpine tweeters came with crossovers, should I remove them? I just don't have a clue how to wire Alpine amp correctly and how do not run out with MS-8 channels. |
