MOTIV 750 (Port Injection w/ AEM EMS4) Progress thread

Copy pasta from another forum, for reference on this one. Edited with updates. Pictures moved to the bottom because this forum doesn't auto resize

The MOTIV 750 kit, MOTIV Port Injection and AEM EMS4 are finally all installed and working. I'm calling this a progress thread because I'm not done yet. Still looking at doing 100% e85 given the secondary injector duty cycle (~25%).

HUGE thanks to Steve (Fuel-IT) for spending a few hours with me at the dyno and helping out. The fuel system is working flawlessly, HPFP and LPFP numbers looked perfect. Datazap logs included (remember that AEM is controlling boost and wastegate, so until Datazap offers AEM log uploaded, the logs will not have everything you want to see).

I also attended NoFlyZone Arizona and trapped 160mph in the 1/2 mile. This was limited due to cooling issues mainly, my FMIC is not sized appropriately... coolant temps were high enough to generate CELs and limp mode. I'm also running the 3.46 diff which has no balls in 5th/6th gear. Many I'm sure have seen the race versus the PureTurbo N55... we'll see how close things are once I've changed things up a little

What does it sound like on the dyno?

NoFlyZone vs a K20 Turbo swapped MR2 that traps 173 (when its not breaking axles and transmissions). My highest trap of the day and my favorite race.

The controversial race against the PureTurbo N55 car. PureTurbo has some cool shit going on, until MOTIV comes up with a N55 solution... they will have my recommendation.

Datazap logs

For those interested, here are the wiring notes for the AEM harness:

AEM GPIO1 -> Ground on Stage3+ fuel relay
AEM IGN SW -> Cig Lighter tap (or Green Plug/Orange wire/Pin #2 in DME box)
AEM GPIO5 -> Wastegate solenoid (MAC)
AEM Red Spare Power wire -> Wastegate solenoid (MAC)
AEM Blue Crank Signal -> Tap on DME Box/Large Black Sub connector/Pin #2 9
AEM White VSS -> Tap on DME Box/Grey Sub connector/Pin #17
AEM White TPS -> Tap on DME Box/Grey Sub connector/Pin #7
AEM INJ1 -> Injector harness, injectors 1 & 6
AEM INJ2 -> Injector harness, injectors 2 & 5
AEM INJ3 -> Injector harness, injectors 3 & 4
AEM Red INJ Power -> Injector harness, all injectors power wires
AEM Red/White/Black bundle -> AEM 5.2 MAP Sensor (diagram above)
AEM Red Big Power wire -> Battery positive terminal (engine bay, 10mm bolt)
AEM Black Ground -> Battery negative terminal (use ground under positive terminal in engine bay)

AEM 5.2 bar MAP sensor wiring diagram for future reference

Everything installed and in its final place.

Vibrant vacuum block, recommended by Jake. Great place for the 5 bar MAP sensor to sit, and for the various vacuum lines (FPR, Manifold, BOV).

Fuel pressure regulator connected to the HPFP and secondary Stage3+ fuel pump.

Wiring everything up... easy but tedious. Lots of heat shrink and soldering.

Teaser dyno graph... 7 psi "stock boost" on E50

Teaser dyno graph... 22 psi "low boost" on E50

Beast mode dyno graph... 29-30 psi "medium boost" on E50

Badass spool.

Jake and I are going to take a stab at the first round of tuning tomorrow evening, hopefully all goes well. I've never ran this motor on straight E85 so interested to see where the LPFP taps out. I'm "just" running a STG2 LPFP so I won't be able to hit these heroic numbers. Nor would I want to bc 6AT FTL.

terry hit 630+ with just an inline pump at 26psi with full e85! im sure you can hit high 600 with the stage 2 pump and beyond that. the stg 3 pump should be sold for those looking at 750+ IMO.

Enjoy man, this setup is so much fun. Looking forward to updates from you! I have another guy locally finishing up his 750 kit this week.

pobudz How did you close up the DME lid? Mine is all set up but the wiring that leaves the DME keeps it from really seating perfectly. I'm using a Split Second and not the AEM but the same issue in principle is there. It's been super rainy recently so i'm not excited about having that area exposed to water at all.

I pushed everything through the grommets out to the engine bay and into the car through the grommet under the ECU bucket... having taken the entire ECU and ECU bucket out, I was able to put it all back together like legos so it all fit perfectly. ECU cover locks on both sides without any problems.

Correct, 5" ETS is what I have now. Contacted AD Engineering for a 8" stepped FMIC, it should be done by the end of this week according to Andy.

Nicely done. I ended up cutting a tiny notch out of the corner farthest from the firewall so the wiring loom could fit through it snugly. The good news is that it worked well and the dme lid now closes, bad news is that the dme box is no longer 150% waterproof. Not worried about water literally coming into it since it's so small and far away from the firewall, but theoretically I guess some moisture could get in it on a really wet day.

IDK

It's pretty awesome how seamlessly the port fuel comes on, you don't notice it at all. I need to bump up the flash scalar to account for E85 but butt dyno says the car loves it, especially up top.

Jake said my PFI kit ships tomorrow, and my clutch has around 100 miles on it....soon I'll know what all the fun is about!
