Should I be worried about my glow plugs?
Hello everybody. (It's my first post! )
I've just bought a 2006 330D M Sport tourer with iDrive, and comes with a years warranty. Everything seems fine with the car apart from someone fitted an Ipod connector instead of the standard AUX input and I need it changing back. Only noticed it after buying the car, teach me to assume something... However, plugging it into INPA and checking for error codes comes back with a glow plug error 4212 on cylinder one which is present and has been logged several times. As my car is under warranty I was thinking of getting the dealer to fix this, but I'm not 100% sure it's something that needs fixing. The only thing I have noticed is when it is really cold it seems a little lumpy for the first few seconds after starting up. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks |

Best to get them replaced, on a search across multiple forums, the general opinion was that the plugs are used for more than just start up (they play a part in emisison control and running during operation). My 330d ran a looooot smoother after I changed the plugs :-)
Do a forum search for water temp in the hidden menu too... I found my 330d was running cool due to faulty themostats - 330d has two and if they arent working you will get poor mpg and less than ideal running performance :-) |
