Will using this battery for a couple days destroy my car?

I know all the horror stories and the registration etc, but for a couple days what is the risk factor?

You'll need to register that battery to the car's DME which you stated you knew but i'll link instructions anyways: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=532315 what this will do is allow the alternator to properly charge the battery as with most things the car has to "learn" the specs per say of the new battery, so it may provide proper charging and not mishandle the unit. In terms of using OEM vs after market. I would check out the link I posted for instructions as well as this one: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=327816 although it may not be same generation, but the concept still applies.

Good luck!

I was under the impression that if you don't register the battery, because the car doesn't adapt to the new battery it won't charge it properly and shorten the battery's lifespan. But, it won't actually hurt the car, because it's still drawing whatever power it needs to from the battery, as long as the battery itself can handle it. And if it can't, then you'll get odd electrical gremlins most like a dying battery anyway, which is usually fixed by putting in a proper battery and the car is fine again.

so, tl:dr
no it shouldn't hurt your car, it might hurt the battery (but not likely)
