Why all the headache trying to keep the twins? Using a single turbo would free up some space and it can be sized to spool just like a 13G if thats what you want. Im sure a single GT3071R or GT3076 would spool up just like 2 13G's. These two turbos are going to be good for 400-500rwhp range and spool up around 2400-3000RPM on the 3L I6 high compression engine.

When i went from 9bs to 13gs on my vr4.. you really can't feel the additional lag.. what you do feel/hear is the turbo spooling and the higher boost that you can run and that can hold higher in the rpms.
I was running 16-17 lbs on 13gs and it held at 13-14 lbs to redline. |

That 2.3L motor came out of an 88 turbocoupe, had 188K miles on it, and laughed at the 25psi of boost and 100 shot of nitrous I was throwing at it at the track...........all without touching the short block. I sold the car but AFAIK it's still running strong on the same combo. The turbo's are part of the exhaust manifold on the N54's, I've held a couple in my own hands.

And I could be mistaken, but I think the stock 4G63 blocks all came with cast pistons, not forged. I believe lots of the old DSM guys are using EVO pistons now, but they are cast as well (although substantially more beefy and lightweight). Most of Toyotas turbo engines did not include forged pistons (the mid 80s 4runners, celicas and pickups for example) Come to think of it, the Nissan 300zx turbos had cast pistons too. I don't know shit about fords, but I don't think your statement about forged pistons being OE standard is right. I think it's the exception. Many of these did have forge rods, maybe you're confused with that? |

So what's the biggest wheel we can cram into this housing? Has Forced Performance gotten back to anyone? They had some decent modified turbos for the WRX for good money (~$500). With the machining, ceramic coating and bigger internals, people were pretty happy with them.
There's nothing scientific to this statement, but if they were getting 13Ts up to 18Ts on the WRX, maybe we can get two 13gs into our TD03? something like that would be a nice bump! |

As I recall, M&M, or one of his buddies tried fitting the 13G compressor wheel with poor results. The turbos surged badly. Its obvious that the TD03 hotside, at least stock without a clip, cannot support that kind of flow.

time to cut those snails off the manifold and weld something bigger on there! Dual 16gs would be a good start. |

I think Dinan has a very NON cost effective product, though the exact specs are ambiguous, check out the link: http://www.dinancars.com/product/lar...ries&mid=1133/.
Funny how they tout "14 psi to 6k rpm" My last logs are 18 - 19 psi to 6K on stock turbos.
