Do I need Combox Telematics or Media?

Hi All - hoping you can help me with a little conundrum:

2007 BMW E92 335i with TCU (BMW Everest E60 ECE) BMW Assist & CIC Upgrade

I want to retrofit a Combox, and am not concerned about losing Assist. Do I still need Combox Telematics, or will I get away with using Combox Media?

If anyone knows anything specific RE changing the pinouts / coding for fitting combox media to 2007 TCU/Assist equipped vehicle I'd be most grateful - can't seem to get the Combox Media to work at the moment, hence the Q.

If you are going to retrofit a combox to used one, then it doesn't matter which version will you choose, Assist won't work anyway.

Thanks buddy - any comment of what to do if the original AUX cables go to the HU rather than to the rear of car? This is what confused me when following other pinout mappings.

either one will work, you will have to run 3 new wires from the combox to the aux port if you want the aux to still work.

Thanks - will make sure I try that. Currently using TcU with the CIC and AUX is wired to HU and works OK. Will remember to double check it still works when I've wired up the COMBOX.

It wont. I've tried it more than once. Even changing the aux coding doesnt work. Car will look for the aux via most.

Not true mate.... the aux will still work after retrofitting a combox.

If coded correctly, in external sources of the CIC - it'll say AUX (Front).

Tried that several times. I've gotten it to work with MULF retrofit but not combox. Can you share which line of code you're referencing and your combox coding?

Code the CIC to your car & then the aux will work.

I didn't change any lines in the code to get the aux to work.

It has nothing to do with the combox, it's the CIC.

If you default code the cic with 6FL or 6VC the aux isnt going to work. The car is going to look for aux over the most since any car that came with combox or mulf has the aux routed to rear.

Here's an idea - if Aux wired to CIC works fine without Combox, but once Combox is fitted (and both CIC/Combox coded with $6VC) it no longer works, why don't we compare trace files using NCSDummy to see which settings are different pre & post coding?

I have a trace file from CIC (coding version CIC.C16) from my car which is coded for combox.

If someone could post their CIC.C16 trace file for a car that doesn't have coding for Combox, I can compare.

This idea came from me looking through my CIC trace file and noticing there are 3 or 4 different parameters which mention "AUX" - I could just try changing them, but would rather investigate via trace files and using NCSDummy's compare trace functionality.

What do you think?

PS: Before someone chimes in, I know I can rewire to the Combox, but want to solve this for other Combox retrofitters out there.
