Hey guys need some quick help :/ so my cars been slipping bad under Cobb v3 aggressive tune for past 3 weeks, I took the tune off today and while driving it to the shop to put a 335is clutch in it, and it barely was slipping, , only did very minimal high gears.... under tune it was noticeably slipping and not holding the power from 2nd on up..Just had the tech called me and asked me why I wanted to put in a new clutch acting like it was barely slipping and not needing a clutch at this time...is this common? Im stock besides just the aggressive stage 1 tune. Thanks!

So it's still slipping after the new clutch was installed?

No, I just dropped it off there this morning thinking it needs a new clutch because it slips bad when the tune is on it. But I took it off to take it to the shop so theyd warranty the clutch repair, and the tech says its barely slipping at all or not even....and he asked me why I wanted the new clutch installed and I said because its slipping bad. and to put it into higher gears and punch the pedal and rpms will jump up about 800 or so which it does when its under the tune......ughhh so it def still needs the clutch right? Didnt know 70 more HP or whatever would make it not slip as bad or at all, but guess Im wrong?

That extra torque can make the difference on a clutch.

More power, more torque, more load, more clamping force needed for the clutch.

It makes sense that it would barely slip if at all without a tune and slip with a tune.

You need a new clutch but you shouldn't expect it under warranty cause you added a tune.

Warranty work is for a manufacturers defect, not for performance modifications.

Yup my clutch was slipping on my tune and then didn't slip even if I tried to make it slip on the stock tune. Got a 335is clutch and now no slip even tuned with e85 in it

Get a new clutch, it's time..

For the record my stocker slips, well, actually just hesitates, throughout the rpm curve when I was running 18.5psi, now that it's set to 14psi, no more hesitation. That's directly related to the pressure plate not having enough force on the clutch. My car only has 45k, so everyone's cars are different.

However I'm buying the 335is kit soon, and a new DMFW. Can't live without the high boost!

Clutches are wear and tear item. Throw extra torque, launches, possibly bad driving habits, and the life of it will decrease. Car is 7 years old, it's about that time. You're planning on staying stage one or do you plan on seeking more power and torque?

I'm stage 1 for now as I am financing the car and have a 3rd party extended warranty till 125k that I paid $2500 for.... so yeah hopefully the 335is clutch will hold the Aggressive tune w no problems for the long run ... I bought the car with 67k on it tuned it at 68k and at 73k it starts slipping ....:/

If your warranty cover the labor and parts, go for it. If they are covering just the labor, I suggest going with a clutch that could handle more torque, especially if you'll be going to a higher stage anytime soon. To save on time and money, it's always good rule of thumb to get something with a higher torque capacity than the torque range that you expecting to reach. That'll keep you from buying another clutch due to premature wear (and maybe paying labor if you're not doing it). Just my thought.
