18x9.5 Squared Setup
Looking at getting an 18x9.5 ET40 Squared setup for my LCI 328i Sedan. I have a 15mm spacer in the front so it'd be 18x9.5 ET25 and a 20mm spacer in the back for 18x9.5 ET20.
Tires will be 235/40. I just want to verify if these will fit without needing to roll the fenders and or if I can get rid of the spacers? Thanks! If not, I'll just run a 18x8.5 and a 18x9.5. |

Front will definitely need the spacer, but 10mm would be enough, maybe even 5mm would be enough to clear inside, depends what suspension you have. I think you will encounter some rubbing with 15mm, if you don't add camber and if you have stock suspension then you can't adjust camber.
I had 18x9.5 et35 with lowering springs and stock shocks at front and it had 1-2mm clearance to shocks. As for rear the 20mm spacer will definitely cause rubbing issues even with 235/40/18. I had 18x9.5 et35+5mm spacer(et30) with 235/40/18 hankook at front and 18x9.5 et22 at my pre-lci and it worked without rubbing issues or fender work. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...3&postcount=39 Since my car is pre-lci it has more room at rear. If you use 10mm spacer at your lci rear making it et30, it will extend same place as my et22. You can try your luck with the 15mm spacer, if it happens to work. Also i tried 10mm spacer to my rear making it et12 which rubbed, and your 20mm spacer at rear would make your rear wheel extend to exactly same place as the et12 did in my car, so definitely will rub. Also don't buy michelin pss it's so fat tyre, that it most likely cause issues at front. Basically 18x9.5 et40 setup will work, but you need to play with different size spacers.

Im running the same set up 18x9.5 235/40 offset 34, with a 5mm spacer in front so 29. I think your wheels will be pushed out pretty far. Also due to the wide michelin tires I cant go as low as I want. Im not sure if non Michelin tires will help but I would recommend it.

Update.
I have 18x9.5 et21 wheels coming. I'm looking to run a square setup. Been debating if I want to go with the ever so popular "stance" style 225/40/18s on Federal 595s or if I want to be a bit more conservative with 235/40 on Hankook Ventus V12. Ive been considering 245/35 but Im not 100% on how that'll fair in the front. Any opinions? |

In fact here is a pictures of 225/40/18 Federals at 9.5 http://zilvia.net/f/showpost.php?p=2...postcount=2410 And here is nice example of square setup 18x9.5 et27 front and et10 rear with 225/40/18 http://www.stanceworks.com/forums/sh...d.php?p=525546 Your setup would retract 3mm at rear and front would extend 6mm more.

Well, I like the 225/40/18 idea (granted I would love to run 245's or 255's but I feel like I'd have to roll the hell out of my front fenders) but the biggest problem I'm having is brands. I can't seem to find anywhere online that sells any Federals (that I trust, one website has a lot of negative reviews).
I'm considering Hankooks, but I've heard they have a very soft sidewall, and I'm not sure how that would fair considering the stretch. Considering Nitto, of just sticking with Falkens. ![]() I like the way the tire looks on the wheel, so Im looking for something similar, but in an 18" setup. Another concern I've been thinking of is the roads. I'd like to maintain a lower than stock stance (I'm slammed right now, but plan on raising it up a bit, tired of scraping) but I want to be able to protect the wheel from smaller defects in the road (I'm pretty good with moving around major road issues). Even though I want square, I might go 245/40 in the back, just to have a little bit of meat. Last edited by justanotherdude; 03-25-2015 at 05:05 PM.. |

I'm not going to tell you it works, but I will say it works for me. I got bc coils with stiffer springs and I turned up the stiffness on the shocks a little bit. My front fenders are completely flat. I have no noticeable rubbing but it took some work and I'm sure it still rubs every now and then I just don't notice it. I still want to go a little lower, but I cant.
245/40/18 will stretch a little less than 245/35/19. |

I think I'm just gonna go with the recommended 225/40 for now and if I find that I can go wider I'll just upgrade when it's time to get new tires.
Probably going to go with Pirelli P Zeros. |
