In agreement with reply on damaged pulleys.

Like everyone said, start with new motor mounts, one side must be upgraded 335i part #. Also, you can buy the updated subframe, there's a new part #, but may not be necessary. Replace your pulleys to rule that out.

Also, if you goon through the hassle of dropping subframe and replacing mounts, it's a good idea to overlap the labor and replace your oil pan gasket because it will eventually start leaking, so it's one less thing you'll need to worry about.

Look at your pulleys. I think a lot of people have misdiagnosed pulleys with a groove or burr for subframe rubbing.

we replacing tensioner pulley (as it squeaks anyway a bit) but the belt literally shreds in same spot everytime. when we replace mounts we will look at that. this is all happening next week, won't be driving car at all really until then.

That's our next area of focus. We just replaced both mounts. Transmission mounts. Belt shredded as we left lot to test drive it. Same spot it shredded it in other times. Gotta locate the source of this one then.

Keep us posted. I'm curious what is going on. I have an 08 335XI and I've never heard of this issue until now. What kind of torque are you pushing?
