Hours required to replace 4 shocks?

labour quote for replacing 4 shocks (2 struts in front and two shocks in rear) is all over the map. From 2.5 hours for rear plus 3.5 hours for front to a flat fee of $250.

Can't believe It would take six hours for four shocks.

Your experience please.

6 hours for all four sounds like book time to me. Just do them yourself, they are easy

Yeah, shop labor rates are setup for rewarding fast techs. I'm sure a good tech could knock this out in less than 2 hours

The rears are easy. It's literally 2 bolts per side. Might take 60-90 minutes. The fronts you may want to take somewhere if you don't have a spring compressor.

Spring compressor tool rental is free once its returned in good working order. I recommend, at very least, an appropriate size ratchet wrench to use the tool, otherwise be ready for a serious arm workout.
