As in clearbra/ppf?
This is my 3rd car with it, I will never have another car without it. This time around I elected to cover the entire car except for the rear bumper and the doors (concerns with removing the comfort access handles to do a seamless instalon the doors, and even with the best installer the pdc holes will never be truly seamless on the rea bumper). Yes, that means full front clip, roof, trunk lid down to the top of of the license plate indentation, "a" pillars wrapped from the base with one piece all the way down the roof rail covering the rear quarter panels. At a certain point its not even a matter of rock chips. It's just less headache and worry for car that gets driven a lot of miles a year and spends most of its time on the LIE and parking in less than optimal neighborhoods. The 2 biggest keys are the installer and the film choice. I have Xpel on all surfaces aside from the front bumper, which has original 3m (slightly more durable). Xpel is one of the better films, although I don't follow or care to follow the film wars that break out online as far as which is the "best". Detailing Dynamics in Mineola has filmed my last 3 cars, and IMO they are the BEST installer in the Tristate area. |

I wrapped my front end with 3M and it was great while it lasted, but after being hit this Winter I now have to re-paint my bumper and re-do the clear film since it must come off. IMO it's not worth it since it'd cost another $700 to get it done whereas a re-spray is just under $500. Save your money and just repaint the bumpers/skirts if the chips and whatnot really bother you that bad.

I had mine done in 2008 when i bought my 335. 7 yrs later and still like new. I used
Armortec 732 829 5014 They are mobile or you can go there.Steve "Reno" Cohen is his name & the guy that does the work.Reasonably priced too.He uses ventureshield at the time mine was done. I have recommended him to handful m3 guys & 335 guys all were happy. Is a good investment. To this day i have no chips cracks. My front bumper, hood, mirrors & rear bumper good as new ![]()

I'm assuming it was a hit and run on a parked car and you are eating the cost? Last edited by Jec1; 04-10-2015 at 08:00 PM.. |

Round 2 was the roof inclusive of sharkfin removal, winshield molding and wrapped into the sunroof recess, as well as the trunklid fully wrapped with no visible seams. Between round 1 and 2 the total number started with a $2xxx if I remember correctly, but ymmv. I'm very pleased with the results. As an FYI, I had the original 3m the first time I ever got ppf a number of years back. It was on a white car daily driven year round and it yellowed BAD. The xpel is a whole different animal, but is very prone to leaving stretch marks if the installer isn't very meticulous. Xpel is a thinner, less durable film than 3m however so my guys still prefer to use the original 3m on high impact areas such as front bumpers. Last edited by Jec1; 04-11-2015 at 01:10 PM.. |
