Front/Rear wheel spacer suggestion: Square 8.5'' 235/40/18

Evening,

On my e90 330i zsp, I have four 8.5'' bmw style 162 wheels with a squared 235/40/18 tire size, for rotating purposes, (michelin pilot a/s 3) and am considering getting (rear) spacers. I am not interested in gaudy stretching in the back, but just want it to look better than it does stock, all tucked under and such. Here are the facts:

Suspension: BMW Performance suspension (slight drop)

Rear wheel + tire: 8.5'', 235/40/18
Front wheel + tire: 8.5'', 235/40/18

Here are my questions:

1. What size rear spacer do I need considering the smaller tire size than the normal (I previously had the 255/35/18 from the stock size)?

2. Should I consider a front wheel spacer?

3. (EDIT: YES I DO) Do I need longer lug nuts to accompany these spacers (ie, when are longer lug nuts necessary)?

Thanks and please let me know.

As a reply to my own thread, I measured the tire to inner fender distance on my rears and I got between 5/8'' and 3/4'' (~16-19 mm). That measurement is to the inner material of the fender, not the metal exterior portion.

Because I have narrower tires on the rear than stock (235 vs 255), I want to say that I have MORE clearance than normal (seems fairly obvious I would say). I just want to see what other people have done with the narrower rear tire as this is not a typical size that people talk about on here.

Any thoughts?

I am leaning towards 15mm spacers for the rear only.

I am more really interested in people who have used a square setup and what spacers they were running. I am using the wider 8.5'' wheel all around which is not typical on here. Just curious before I plunk down $100ish on some spacers/studs.

You should be able to fit a 12mm out back no problem. I would go with a 15mm though as that should fit without rubbing as well. Just rent all four sizes to see which will work best in your case; that way you can try the 10mm up front and see how that looks as well:

How much camber do you have in the rear currently?

I have not changed any camber in the rear other than from the drop with BMW PS (which is not dramatic. Probably less than 1'').

In the front I pulled the pins to get whatever additional camber that adds. That is probably the extent to which I will adjust camber as I am not interested in camber plates (other than potentially the fixed Dinan ones for cost/sound/maintenance/resale).

I was not aware of the rental option via Rogue Engineering and will consider that. I wish they would add the rental fee minus shipping to the purchase of the eventual spacers, but beggars can't be choosers I suppose.

Thanks for the reply.

Miles on car? When your front control arms start to wear out, look into the M3 units for a bit more camber as well.

62k miles. I have already replaced the front control arms with upgraded HD versions (unfortunately not the M3 versions which I should have done). I actually only changed the lower ones, which dont change camber. I could still do the upper ones but probably wont go that route b/c of lack of time/resources at this point.
