fenders rolled from factory?

I have a 2011 128i with only 17k miles on it and was bone stock when I bought it and I noticed it has the fenders rolled. Just bought my 2011 e90 335 a month ago and just noticed that the rears are rolled on it as well.

Is this normal practice and is ot safe to say that I can run more aggressive wheels without having to roll any further? I mean, they're as filled as I think they can get without pulling...TIA boys.

I think you are confusing what rolling our fenders does. US car maker fenders often grace the edge perpendicular to the fender, and rolling these fenders curls it back to be parallel. Our fenders start almost parallel but have a little space between the fender and the lip. Rolling them compresses this space sandwiching them together. You don't get much but you get some., maybe a mm or two., of additional clearance from doing this. At least this is how I undersrand it.

Well you understand it wrong. I've rolled many fenders, and these fenders are definitely rolled. I know for sure the previous owners on both if my cars and they definitely didn't do it, so there has to be some sort of reason that they were rolled.

My 335 is a special edition so it comes with 313M wheels which are 19x9 in the rear, I can only assume that maybe this is why they're rolled, but figured maybe someone can shed some light on it.

No, fundguy is correct. Compared to other automakers, they do come sort of "rolled" from the factory. But you can still roll them more to gain more clearance.

Most other cars have the fenders finish off like an L. BMW finishes them off like a U. You can roll them even more so they're more like a V.

They can be rolled more, but only a mm or 2. After that you need careful pulling persuasion or wide body kit if you want more.

Wouldn't be be first time BMW rolled the fenders.

E39 M5s came pre-rolled in the rear from the factory.

Unlike the E46 which has unrolled arches, which allows dirt and water to collect and rot the metal from the inside out.
