N52 SOS

Hey guys as some of you know i have just had the shittest luck with my 328i.
It all started after my Active autowerkes header, 3 stage intake manifold, and tune.

I put these parts on about almost two months ago now (give or take) and ever since then i have had problem after problem.

The main Issue that still isnt fixed is the fact that my Rpms at idle are going crazy. They normally idle at 600 and are good but mine go from 600 to 500 to 400 and then back up to 600 then back down to 400.

So i take it two three shops and no one could figure it out. I finally take it to a BMW specialty shop (Ultimate Autowerkes) and i tell them the issue.

So we removed the 3 stage intake mani and the tune and had to replace the valve cover. Right after i pick it up it still was having problems with the rpms.

but then after a couple days it went away. But how ever after about a week it was back. SO i just took it in yesterday and had them check everything from head to toe and told them to make sure my o2 sensors where in the right banks and find and kill the problem.

They call me today and tell me that its miss firing and that the coils and plugs needed to be changed. so i tell them to go ahead and do it. after couple hours they call back saying it done and i can get it.

I just picked it and at first not a problem BUT then once in gear and at a light IT WAS BACK!!!!!!!!!!

Im now 2200 in repairs and HAVE GOTTEN NO WHERE AND NO ONE CAN PIN POINT IT. AND NOW IM HEARING A WHISTLE WHEN THE RPMS GO UP AND DONE. FML

So heres the current mods i have on the car.

AA headers with second cat Delete and res delete to muffler.

can anyone help me out im so lost and dont know what to do now
feel like i need to return to stock and sell everything and call it a day after this

SOMEONE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

What specific tune did you get? Throttle remap, specific O2 delete tune included?
How many miles are on the engine?

To me, it's obviously something to do with a sensor being either removed, de-programed or damaged.

I don't know much about much, but hopefully with additional information others can help as well.

does it run properly on the stock tune? I would start there! Is your MAF sensor in good condition?

I have the stock tune and stock intake manifold on it since the valve cover was replaced and it still isnt running. They checked the o2s and said they are good.

Check for air leaks in intake tract and or disconnected vacuum lines.....maybe not sealed good also could be a bad MAF.....don't know much about the three stage intake but are you sure it was installed correctly or perhaps the manifold is faulty/defective.
So I take your car ran fine with the stock IM?
Oh the joys of tuning gone wrong

How does your valvetronic sensor look? Vanos solenoids? How MAF been cleaned?

Please, buy a cable and download Bimmer logger, and tun those codes. No reason to be throwing money away for an issue that isn't fixed (which is bullshit, but that's another story)

What are your codes?

This sounds very much like a simple vacuum leak.... Or somebody installed the manifold and gaskets wrong, causing a vacuum leak.

And sadly that all they work on i feel sorry for their other customers who probably have worse problems.

Like "hey i see smoke coming from my engine" their response must be "of well you need a new tire"

Vacuum leaks cause erratic idle. You may have cracked your breather hose while installing 3 IM. Before throwing any more moeny, I would start there and see if any of the hoses are busted. IM removal and installation takes about 3 hours, so it's not as bad to double check everything. If you have time and place, just do it your self. There are plenty of good directions and YouTube videos describing entire or part of the project. (Pelican parts instructions are really good).
Also, double check your O2 sensors as the lose ones can cause lots of issues (see different threads).

Another option you have is to contact AA and ask them to raise your idle speed to 750-800 rpm. That would get rid of idle issue. (That is bmws solution for erratic idle)
