Stretched Tire
I have this Falken FK451 tire on my left rear that looks stretched. On the right I have a toyo (second pic). I hate the look. Could it be the type of tire that makes it look like this or can something be wrong? I'm thinking about just getting new tires but is there a way to know if they will be stretched looking also? Both are 265/30zr-19. Thanks

I agree - the stretch look is awful. Can you just get another Toyo to replace it vs buying a new pair (or is the Toyo worn out)?
If buying a new set, you can go wider too. 275/30/19 should fit perfectly. |

Everything is fine. The stretch difference is because tyres are different between manufacturers even if the size is same. Some tyres run wider than others. Some have square shoulder and some have more rounded etc. For example in your case Falken 265/30/19 runs more narrow than Toyo 265/30/19.
There is basically 3 different sizes for one size. Narrow, true or wider. Only way to know is by looking from internet or if the tyre manufacturer has put out the more info about the tyres.

Here are a couple pics of some wheels and tires I have. Both wheels are 19x10+38. One is a VMR 710 and the other is a AG M359.
Left is a 265/30R19 Michelin PSS and right is a 265/30R19 Yokohama Advan AD08R. You can see the difference in the sidewall shape and how that affects how the tires fit on the car. Last edited by drewnel22; 04-20-2015 at 09:43 AM.. |
