E90 HID Working Intermittently
I was hoping someone can give me some insight into a problem I am having.
A few weeks ago my passenger side HID begin turn on and off while drive or it would start the ignition cycle and then turn off and stay off. At first I though I may have loose connection since my LED halo lights I put in were doing the same thing on the passenger side, and I found a loose connection. I could not check the HID, due to the fact it would not turn on at all at this point and has been out for a week now and I order a replacement which just came in. However, last night the HID is back on and working fine. I also notice the HID adaptive control on both light is no longer working when the turn on the car at night the lights doe not go through the up and down and side to side calibration and they do not turn when I turn the steering wheel. I also been getting people high beaming me when I have the low beams on making me thing the lights are now aiming high. Considering the one HID is turn on and off I am thinking I have bad light with a bad ballaster since it failing to ignite the HID, when this happen I get the warning Icon on the dash as well. Any idea what is going on and do you think I have a Faulty HID control Module. TIA |

Might also be a failing bulb. Change the D1S bulbs first and go from there.
Not sure about the adaptive problem though. Is your headlight switch in the "A" position and is there an adaptive headlight error on the dash?

If you get an error code they will not steer. My left would blink 4 times at start up but would remain on... I coded out bulb check and now mine steer again.

Thanks for the responses.
At this point everything is working again, the lights come on and stayed on for over a week now and the adaptive control is working and the lights are moving again. I have the D1S replacement lights and since the car has 100K mile and car is 7 1/2 yrs old they are probably going bad so I will just replace them the next time I have the wheels off. I think I figure out the adaptive controls does not work when one light is out. From what I could tell is if one of the lights do not start up correctly or does not turn on at all the adaptive control does not cycle the lights at start up thus do not turn when the steering wheel turns. The systems seem to work together. Last edited by Maestro; 04-27-2015 at 06:22 PM.. |
