Most of us here are in denial. We're nostalgic about the old diesels which use to run no matter what.
The new emission restriction rules have killed the diesel, especially the reliability aspect. All of them, not just BMW.
All new diesel use the same alphabet formula.
It's really difficult for me to see myself in a different diesel in the future. I already know what my next car will be after I part with my 335d. And it won't be a diesel, or a BMW for that matter.
I'm an anti social type of guy and I don't like to make new friends and attend weddings for the all the SA's and shop foremen at the BMW dealer.
There are plenty of brands out there that will perpetuate my outcast behavior and keep me away from the dealer for many years.

I'm glad to have read your post here. You're probably right. I am nostalgic for my slow, smelly, noisy, smoky '86 Jetta diesel that I kept for 20 years and 280k miles. I would still have it had I not been going overseas for 6 years. So my nostalgia has been leading me to thinking about replacing my 335d with a new Golf Sportwagen TDI. I suppose I'm just fooling myself about being able to drive it until I die.

You would need to take the whole vehicle to get the Quaife.

One small mistake in your 335d at high speed and you might get your wish.

It is possible that the Quaife may get sold separately, see above.

I meant the Golf Sportwagen. But seriously, I try to keep the D under about 125 mph most of the time, mostly for health and financial reasons.

With illegal mods, any 335d would be a fantastic and reliable car.
I can't do it for various reasons. Geography being probably the most important one.

I certainly hope this is true! Been a diesel fan since my dad's first Dodge Cummins but they don't and can't make diesels now like they used to.
