Vinyl wrap over light hail damage?

Last summer, my car suffered some light hail damage. Since it's Alpine White, it's very difficult to notice unless you have it in the perfect light. I had always planned on putting gloss black vinyl on my roof, but then yesterday thought that the gloss black may show the dents. Does anyone have any experience wrapping over dents? Should I consider a carbon fiber or matte black wrap for the roof instead to mask the dents?

It will show unless you fill them. The vinyl will not just sit over the dents and cover them like you hope.

Damn...you think it would even show with a matte finish or carbon fiber? The indents are damn near impossible to spot now, but again, that could be due to the color. In fact, I didn't notice the damage until weeks later when the sun was setting and hit my car at the perfect angle.

matte carbon fiber may hide them enough since the pattern could confuse the eye. cant have them pdr?

I haven't had an estimate on it since I rarely could ever see it. I just thought about this scenario yesterday, so I may have to swing by a PDR place shortly. Was hoping to avoid spending additional money overall to do a simple wrap lol.

Even with a wrap, you will still see the dents

It might even make it worse (especially with matte). The matte made dents and dings stand out more when I was playing around with it.

Yep, matte will make the dents look more obvious.

Buy yourself a sample of the wrap you're looking at. You can usually find a 12"x12" square on ebay for about $10. Then put it on and check out the results.

Thanks for the feedback...Gonna swing by a PDR place in the next week or so to get an estimate. The damage isn't bad so hopefully the price to fix it won't be ridiculous.
