ST/KW Issue - Wheel rubbing spring

Hey all,

I installed ST coils recently and notice some rubbing while going straight.

Turns out the inside of the wheel is rubbing against on of the coils on the spring. I thought: "oh easy fix, I have some 5mm spacers lying around"

Still rubbing... I already had to raise it more to fit the spacer, I really don't have much room to go any bigger spacer-wise.

So now I'm wondering is something wrong here? (besides my offset )
Or do really just need a bigger spacer? Was really trying to avoid spacers all together... Maybe need new wheels soon then.

For reference:

F - 19x8.5 ET 35 (DWS 235/35)
R - 19x9.5 ET 33 (DWS 265/30

You have a few options, go up in ride height, dial in more positive camber, try to add 10MM wheel spacers or as a last resort, change wheels.

I don't like those options! haha

I do appreciate the help though, if i add a 10mm spacer, I will have to increase ride height regardless. Are you saying just increasing ride height alone might alleviate the issue?

Thanks Jeff

Thanks Jeff
If you can move the perch up/away from the area where it is rubbing, then yeah, that would obviously solve your issue

It's rubbing on the spring towards the top. Not the perch.

Changing camber will not do anything because the shock and wheel will move together.

Why don't you go with different springs (that run same diameter) and different strut mount? It will add up cost but probably better than running spacers or buying new wheels. See the photo bellow. TCKline spring doesn't change the diameter.

Do you have M3 control arms installed by chance?

You know what, you're right. I hate suspension geometry haha.

I thought maybe if you move the perch from the top it would dial out some camber and get away from the spring. It's been a while since I played with the BMW 335i suspension.

Well, glad to know I didn't drill out my camber pins for no reason at least!

Gonna try to fit 7mm spacers, if that don't work, on to more expensive solutions! lol
