Correct format and folder structure for USB stick?
Hi,
I had a go at putting some music on a USB last night. I formatted it to FAT32 using my macbook, then dropped about 50 albums to the root of the thumb drive. Popped in my armrest USB slot this morning and I got a cannot read file message. Just wondering if someone call tell me the correct format and folder structure that's needed when playing back from a USB drive and what other if any requirements there? Thanks |

Use the one in the glovebox instead.
When I added music into my CIC I did the same as you. Try a different (smaller) USB stick and less music and make sure the format of all the music is .MP3

I had this. Formatted the usb stick in NTFS with 4k allocation. Sorted.
All tracks in one root folder. No issues. |

There is probably a 3rd party utility that will.

I think you still should get 15 days free trial with no limitations. I used this a few months back to do the same. works well!

So I formatted the usb to fat32 using windows 7 with 4k allocation (ntfs was not recognised).
I organised the structure so that root of the usb goes c:\artists\albums\songs. I inserted into the armrest usb and it was recognised. However I did not have the option to search by artist or album only folder. See screenshot. |

Sounds like your tags maybe incorrect.
Double check them with something mp3tagV2 |

False alarm, the next time I started the car and checked the menu I got the option to search by album/artist/compilations etc. Happy days
