Hi,

I'm looking for a shop that would know how to do the Clutch Delay Valve mod? I know any shop should be able to do it, but i'd rather find one that know what to do, and doesn't need me to explain it to them.

If i had the tools and room to do it, i would do it myself.

Any recommendations? Mississauga area is best.

I had mine installed at Columbus Automotive in Mississauga when I was due for a brake flush. The shop is owned by Ivo - I get all my work done through him. Very honest and dependable guy. Many of the local members use him.

I'm guessing around $60? Probably half hour of work, but many shops may have a minimum for small jobs.

Thanks for bringing this up. Next time I am going go an oil change(soon) I'll get this mod done.

Did you guys just remove the CDV or install the M3 version?

I'm wondering which route should I take.

Also to add to Breathless's question..would the cdv make a big difference if I dont drive the car hard?

I thought about doing this like 5 years ago, but I've gotten used to how the car drives at this point. I don't think I feel like re-learning how to drive it

makes a difference especially if you're shifting fast. it engages your clutch more quickly and increases your clutch life by preventing from unnecessarily riding the clutch when shifting. when i had my oem clutch delay still in there and was shifting fast there would be a delay from releasing the clutch pedal and the clutch catching properly.

go to any place but bimmersport those guys make many mistakes, i had gone there for my downpipe install and intake cleaning and they had made a mess of my engine bay with overspray and dirt everywhere and they left a rag in my engine bay close to my downpipes.

I am hoping it will lessen the effect of the dual mass flywheel we have in these cars. Want to get get rid of or at least reduce the jerking sensantion you get when engaging 1st and 2nd gears in normal driving. My understanding from reading a bunch of info posted here that CDV delete will help with that. Its cheap enough to give it a try.

So I had less than an hour driving time without CDV restriction it really feels different when shifting. In 6 months I've driven this car I've been trying to get used to the jerking especially in 1st and 2nd during absolutely normal driving conditions. Usually if you press the clutch in without holding the gas and reving up a tiny bit before gear change it would feel like the clutch disk is dragging a bit jerking the car. Guess you could get used to all this and drive avoiding these things but it literally takes constant concentration and precise timing to get right every time you shift the gears.

Without CDV you enjoy the ride basically without thinking much about this. Really smoothes out the drive. Clutch simply feels different now. In a very good way. I feel more connected to the car because I can control the clutch precisely now. CDV was basically degrading the drivability of the car. It feels like a normal car without it. Totally worth it.

Just had mine done too and would recommend anyone to do this mod.

I went with buying the M3 CDV (~$21 at dealership) and I had Columbus Automotive do the Install.

It finally gets rid of the sluggishness you and your passengers feel. Makes a great improvement shifting gears 1-4.
