For what it is worth, I have a 2010 and blew my charge pipe too. It broke the lock ring tabs off and shot the metal ring beside the transmission. I replaced it with a metal unit without a second thought and was glad to be rid of the plastic piece of crap.
In defense of BMW, we purchased a car that was designed to have a maximum of 6 psi of pressure on the charge pipe. A Cobb/JB/Procede will raise the max pressure to 18+ on most maps ... that is 3 times the max design pressure and you are mad because it eventually breaks? I think we are pretty lucky that the charge pipe is about the only part that we need to change to allow us to triple the max boost pressure. |

Stock boost is 8.9 psi not 6 but your point is valid.

I know this thread is very old and got bumped but OP should have never gone in for warranty on a charge pipe what the mods he put on caused it to blow. Should have just bought an aftermarket CP and called it a day. Glad that's the first thing I bought with my JB4.

Do what you want to your car (I have), just don't go crying to BMW asking them to fix stuff that you caused to break.

The car is designed to run stock not twice the amount of boost it came with from the factory. If everything was completely over-designed like that the car would weigh 4000 lbs. |

No they can. I always brought it to my local shop and had my codes cleared before bringing it in for work till my warranty expired.
