BT & Signal Strength Indicator
I am wondering if anyone gets a signal strength symbol/meter on their I-Drive screen when they are using a mobile phone via bluetooth connectivity ? If you look in the user manual, it shows a signal strength meter alongside the bluetooth symbol on the screen.
In my car I only get: - the bluetooth symbol when my phone (V3) is connected. - Bluetooth symbol flashes when talking - Bluetooth symbol flashes when phone out of range or signal is weak

What you are getting is similar to what I used to see before I did a firmware upgrade for my Treo 650. The only difference is that I used to also get a symbol that looks like a little cell phone. Whenever my wife's Motorola V551 would pair with the car, she would get a triangle, the bluetooth "tower" and signal strength, as well. I didn't get signal strength when the Treo paired until after the firmware upgrade, but I would still get the phone icon anytime my phone paired .
Now that I have updated the car's software (CIP 20), everything is working correctly: -Bluetooth "tower" and signal strength under normal circumstances. -cell phone icon if I have a missed call. -triangle when in an unusual location/roaming. I would try software updates (phone and car) to see if it helps. It definitely made a difference in my situation.

hmmm that's strange. I got the MP3 upgrade about a month ago, and I thought at that time that I had also been upgraded to CIP20. In fact, they had to do it twice, which made me think even more that I had that latest software. MP3 and BT work great, I also have DRL and other features (don't use them).
Maybe it's because my phone is not 100% compatible ? I have a RAZR V3. ... anyone else with a V3 care to comment ?

I have a Cingular V3 and it works without a hitch. Icons visible on iDrive screen & phone pairs immediately upon entering car.

With my Orange SPV C600, I get the phone symbol, but no signal strength meter. There's no problem using the phone though & the addressbook transfers over to the car without any problem. This is after the CIP20 & mp3 retrofit update. |

I was able to upgrade my phones last week through Verizon as my contract was up for renewal. I got a razor for my self and a Samsung for my wife (both have Bluetooth). The razor works fine and pairs automatically and all icons on the car screen appear. The Samsung won't pair at all with the car, just says no Bluetooth devices can be found.
