Help: Painted Front Splitters Installation
Hello Guys,
i bought Painted front splitters for my 09 335i sedan from jbspeed, came with double sided tape but i dont feel comfortable using double sided tape because i read reviews online that there will be a gap between splitters and bumper, should i use betalink glue? do you guys know any good local shop who does install? Thanks |

I bought my splitters off ebay and had them painted and installed. I ask the shop to glue mine but they said tape would be good enough. Honestly, I wished they would of used some type of glue and clamped it in place for a seamless look. If I look close enough I can see a gap. Sorry I don't have any pictures handy.

TBH, it comes down to a matter of preference.
Even JBSpeed splitters aren't going to fit perfectly. With betalink glue, you are basically assuming you will never remove the splitters. With tape, you have that option. That being said, I used tape on my e90 splitters and I am not too picky. There were gaps if you got really up close, but for the most part they looked great. God knows what a shop will charge for that anyway. Im brown, got some used splitters that were already painted for $100 and $4 of tape and did it myself lol |

used tape on my splitters, as is the usual install, and they fit good and no issues.
the Pre-lci splitters use 2 or 3 of the oem screws on the underside of the bumper too, not sure about the LCI spliiters. If I were you, I'd just use double sided tape, and it you feel the need, get 1 or 2 self taping screws and fasten them underneath out of sight.

LCI splitters also use the OEM screws on the bottom. I had pre lci splitters on my old car and they were definitely easier to place than the LCI splitters but even the LCI ones are pretty easy.
Just use lots of 3M double sided tape and the screws on the bottom. If you line it up properly you will have minimal to no gaps. Definitely use tape instead of beta link so you can remove them if ever needed. Last edited by Harmander; 05-08-2015 at 12:08 PM.. |

I would be glad to help but you are a bit far from me. What I did since my splitters I felt had terrible fitment. Instead of using the 3m tape that comes with them, there is actually a higher strength version out there. I used this instead because once it is on, there is no readjustment.
